Hello guys! A slightly delayed but none of the less wishfully Happy New Year to you all! I know I've been none existent, blog wise for the last 3 weeks due to lack of metal motivation but i'm back with a bang for the new year!
I thought i'd do a nice, easy read post informing you all of what i got up to during the festive weeks through a photo collage of my Instagram photos!
These first few photos are from about mid way through December. The top left photo is from my little brothers annual school play; he goes to a small school so they are normal quite quaint affairs, none of the less i enjoy them every year.. no matter how many words the tiny kids miss and how long they drag on.
This years play was base around the 1914 Christmas day trues between the soldiers. It was well played and made light with a lot of Christmas songs. The best part was seeing my little Harry smiling and singing and generally just having a fun time!
The other three photos represent silly family times, all the sparkly, bright decs got put up, and i spent many of those nasty rainy days curled up on the sofa watching a unhealthy amount of movies, mainly the classics like Matilda, Jingle All The Way and Elf.
My make up and outfits seemed to be inspired by the festive colours such as gold and deep reds. My go to make up has been a gold sparkly eye teamed with fluttery lashes and a classic cat eye. I also used a dark brown in my crease and under my bottom lash line to deepen and slightly intensify the look.
For lips i just line them with a red lip pencil then fill in with a deeper red lipstick. I think both compliment each other lovely and both give off a polished look!
I went to my favourite online store (everythingfor5Pound) mid November as i felt the Autumn winter wardrobe needed an upgrade. I ended up buying a bunch of gold, sparkly things i realized i couldn't really make justifiable until December time! Haha. The dress i'm wearing above is one of my purchases and has been a worn favourite through out the last month. I just love the snake skin effect that shimmers gold in different lights. I feel the leather detailing adds that bit of edge too!
Other statement pieces for me have been chunky knit cardigans and knee high socks/ tights. Tights wise, I think they pretty much go with everything at this time of year and i love the cheeky, sexy look they create. How beautiful are theses pictured above?! I've recently lathered them on a couple of messy nights out, (oops) sooo i'm going to have to repurchase another pair or two!
These next 4 are from Christmas eve, which truly was a lovely day. My mum, Lola, Alex and myself spent the day at a family friends beautiful house. How adorable does Lola look in these photos, especially the B&W one, i think she looks like shes out of an old movie!
We all sat by this amazing fire above, listened to Christmas classics and sipped on G&T's. We finished the magical night off with a huge buffet and i quite frankly ate myself to sleep. Hahaha we got home around 6 o'clock and i had to sleep for a few hours, the soup and garlic bread was a cheeky mid night bit of comfort food.
These 4 photos are from Christmas day! A day that started with being awaken by excited kids and watching their faces when they see Santa has been :'). Harry plowed into his presents, where as Lola opened two, one containing a talking Olaf teddy and the other a cowboy hat which she was so happy with! It took her the whole day to go through opening the rest but i guess that just proves 2 year old's do not need a lot of things, a couple of presents will be just as loved and appreciated.
Around 4 o'clock hit, which meant fooood, as always if not more so i stuff my self with yummy veg, potatoes and meat to the point where i was ready to go in a food coma, hence the very sleepy photo of myself!
These next few are from Boxing Day night & New Years Eve. Both nights i spent my time with some of the best friends i have. It felt so good to reconnect with them and catch up after a few months of little contact. Alcohol wise, both nights i drank a little too much and paid for it the day after! Haha but i remember laughing so hard i was close to weeing, so a bit of sick and a headache is a small price to play for such fun!
The spring rolls were my hungover self's holly grail as i just needed little bits to snack on. It was great to mix it up this year by just breaking out the party food, instead of a traditional roast.
These final photos have you all up to date with whats been going on in my world as these snaps were taken in this first week of 2015!
The first 4 photos show some super cute bits and bobs i purchase with my Christmas money. I saw a unicorn clutch like the one above in baby pink on the Asos website a couple of months back and thought omg that is so adorable i must own it! Scolled down to see the price... £40.00!!! I was like okay, its cute but no way am i splashing out that amount of money on a clutch, even if it is shaped like a unicorn.
But during a recent browse at cute things on eBay i came a cross the same thing, but better as its metallic and i really can't say no to metallic accesories for £7.00 including postage!! I snapped it up!
Although it did take a couple of weeks to come as it came from China i'd say its totally worth it. Its great quality and looks so quirky with any night out outfit. Only downside is the pocket is quite small but if i just put my money in a coin purse and place my phone and ID close together it works fine!
Keeping on my obsession with the fantasy species i bought a unicorn pillow pet and I've decide to call him after something i love dearly... Noodles! I know what your probably thinking right, i turned 20 last month and i'm buying a pillow pet... Hahaha i know, my mum thinks i'm slightly crazy too but I've wanted one for years and when i saw this stuffed, lilac, soft piece of joy i had to get him.
My other two purchases are obviously cat themed because who doesn't love cats? A 2015 calendar is essential to starting a new organised year and i felt a nighty with cartoon cats all over and a glittery meow speech bubble on the front was needed too... you know for, um, better nights sleep! Teamed with my pillow pet nights have been very comfortable indeed!
Finally the photo of my vanity area is basically just displaying how clean and organised it is as i spent a good hour or two going through make up and nail polish, making sure everything was well organised in my draws and colour sectioned on my shelves (OCD life for the win!). Having everything organised makes me feel a lot calmer and obviously makes things easier when it comes to beautifying time.
The final photo is the title page of a film I've watched a couple of times in the last few weeks, 'Girl, Interrupted'. I feel i can connect with it as the main topic is depression, which i myself have been dealing with for almost a year. The way the main actress talks about her feelings and what shes feeling is very relate-able and somewhat comforting to me. Anyway i'll keep this section short as i plan on sharing more light on my mental health journey in a post of its own.
I hope you enjoyed reading this little update into my life, i know its a little ramberly but thats just how i'm feeling and i felt i owned it to the followers i do have to tell you i havent totally vanished! Once again, i hope you all have a very Happy New Year, lets all try make this our best yet!!
Much love,
Kim Xo
